Gender Empowerment Cell

Gender Empowerment Cell

सशक्तGender Empowerment Cell, formerly known as Women Study Cell, emerged on campus to foster women's empowerment. The Women Study Cell sought to broaden knowledge of women's concerns while creating a safe environment. The primary objective of सशक्त was to offer our students a secure place to engage in discourses on a range of topics, including the status of women in the economy, the relationship between gender and the law, gender and the media, issues pertaining to minority women and sexual discrimination, campaigns for gender justice, etc. At Ismail National Mahila PG College, gender  sensitization  is  a  necessity  that  is  strongly  promoted  by several committees and cells. Consequently, the Women Study cell has been transformed into the Gender Empowerment cell as of January 2024, under the invaluable supervision of Prof. Anita Rathi, principal. Promoting gender fairness and good relationships with people of the opposite gender is the driving force behind the cell development. The overall objective of this cell is to educate individuals on gender stereotypes, the distinctions between sex and gender, and how gender is socially constructed. Girls experience unfair social control, prejudice, and domination. ‘सशक्तoffers a precise and unambiguous perspective on gender, contributing to the comprehension that GENDER is not just about women, but rather about 'People'. As part of the grassroots gender intervention, we intend to deliver gender sensitization to the community. Through a variety of exercises and conversations, students are able to omprehend how patriarchy constructs women in society, emphasises how women are structurally oppressed, emphasises women's resistance, and explores women's writing as an embodiment of agency and resistance.
